The Charles de Bruyères Museum is actually an art gallery
containing a superb collection of Dutch paintings and works by Lorraine’s
artists as well as an outstanding collection of items from the former
abbey in Remiremont, one of the foremost convents in France.

Charles Friry - Remiremont
Located in a former canoness’s house, the museum and its garden
provide a period setting in which to display the collections put
together in the 19th century by barrister Charles Friry, an enthusiastic
art lover. His collection was then continued by his grandson, artist
Pierre Waidmann.
The most outstanding work is Le Veilleur à la sacoche by
Georges de La Tour.
